Newcastle United face a tough test against Everton in the Premier League today.
The Magpies welcome the Toffees to St. James’ Park, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side looking to bounce back from their first defeat at 2020/21 last weekend.
Steve Bruce’s side have had an up and down start, having taken eight points from their first six league games.

Fans have not been particularly impressed by what they’ve seen so far, but there’s a chance for the team to make a statement by getting three points and putting in a good performance against a strong Everton side.
In goal, Karl Darlow should continue and his back four could look something like Javier Maquillo and Jamal Lewis at right and left-back with Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez central, with Jamaal Lascelles supposedly a doubt for the game.
Newcastle have simply been too defensive in games so far and need to get at Everton, who have not been as strong at the back as they have in attack – setting up with four at the back would encourage a more attacking game plan.
In midfield, Isaac Hayden wasn’t risked against Wolves and could return to partner Jeff Hendrick, with Miguel Almiron in the number 10 role.

That’s a trio that theoretically has good balance – £22,000-a-week star Hayden (Spotrac) and Hendrick in there to put out fires and Almiron to create them.
In attack, Allan Saint-Maximin is likely to play from the left, with Jacob Murphy right and Callum Wilson through the middle. Murphy rescuing a point last time out may see him retain a starting spot, with Bruce known for being loyal.
Newcastle have got to take it to Everton and try and capitalise on the fact they lost for the first time last weekend.
With this formation and set of players, three points could well be more possible.
