Predicted Newcastle side to take on Tottenham: Seven players could miss out

Steve Bruce is likely to be without seven first-team stars as Tottenham Hotspur travel north to take on Newcastle United at St. James’ Park – and will at least be enforced into one change following the defeat to Watford.

Newcastle have won just once in their last six games, despite taking the lead against Watford on Saturday only to lose 2-1 at Vicarage Road. Despite claiming Premier League safety, Bruce will be desperate for an improvement.

Though Tottenham will be favourites to beat Newcastle, The Toon will take solace from the fact that Spurs were beaten 1-0 in north London by Newcastle last time out – as Joelinton netted his first Toon goal back in August.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has never won on Tyneside – despite two spells at Chelsea, one at Manchester United and now Tottenham. Bruce confirmed that Sean Longstaff, Isaac Hayden and Jamaal Lascelles are all doubts.

The trio join Andy Carroll, Florian Lejeune and Ciaran Clark on the sidelines through injury – while Danny Rose will be Newcastle’s one enforced change, as he will be unable to take part against his parent club.

We expect Newcastle to make two changes to the side that lost to Watford. Joelinton will miss out again, as Dwight Gayle starts up front, while Fabian Schar’s spell in midfield is over – as he returns to defence to replace Lascelles.

Javi Manquillo started at right-back last time out, but he will move to left-back to cover Rose with Emil Krafth coming back in. Nabil Bentaleb could face his former side in midfield, as Schar drops back to replace Lascelles.
