Predicted Liverpool XI to face Ajax tonight

Liverpool are looking to bounce back from their shock defeat against Atalanta last week with victory over Ajax in the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds were stunned by the Serie A outfit, who won 2-0 at Anfield to tighten things up a little in Group D.

Liverpool are still top on nine points, but Ajax and Atalanta are both breathing down their neck on seven each. That said, the Reds only need a point against the Dutch giants to seal safe progression to the last 16.

The fact things are quite tight will likely mean Klopp goes as full strength as he possibly can, amid a host of injury problems.

In goal will be Alisson, and there could be a back four of Neco Williams, Fabinho, Joel Matip and Andy Robertson.

Matip was rested at the weekend and so the Cameroonian is likely to be brought back into the fold.

With James Milner – who can cover at full-back – the latest player to suffer an injury, young Williams could be given the chance to prove himself again after a shaky performance against Brighton.

In midfield, it’s probable that Curtis Jones and Gini Wijnaldum will both start with £7.25 million signing Takumi Minamino (BBC Sport) dropping out, and man of the moment Diogo Jota potentially operating as an advanced midfielder.

Klopp will not want to give Ajax anything, and so it’s probably likely Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will all start in attack to try and get the job done. Klopp would like to hope his side can build a lead so he can get his big guns substituted off as soon as possible.

After last week’s slip up, Klopp will be hoping for a ruthless return to winning ways at Anfield.
