Arsenal have started the 2020/21 campaign in solid fashion, winning both their Premier League outings against Fulham and West Ham.
Tonight represents their first real test though when they travel to Anfield to face champions, Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta looks to have settled at the Gunners and will want to back up last season’s FA Cup win with an improved performance in the league.
Ahead of tonight’s trip to Merseyside, we looked at the team which Mikel Arteta might choose to call upon.
In goal and back three
Bernd Leno will keep his place in goal but there may be a change or two at the back.
Kieran Tierney missed the win over West Ham with an injury but he could return here.
The £25 million defender played on the left-hand side of a three-man defence at Fulham.
He could take up a similar position here replacing Sead Kolasinac who deputised last week.
Gabriel will keep his place in the team but David Luiz could start to make up the three with Tierney and the Brazilian.
The £100,000-a-week defender is yet to start a league game this season.
Wing-backs and Midfield
On the right, Hector Bellerin should continue following his impressive start to 2020/21.
On the left, Bukayo Saka looked the part in the game against West Ham and his energy going forward could prove pivotal if Arsenal try to counter Liverpool.
Granit Xhaka has made a solid start to the current campaign and the Swizz midfielder looks undroppable.
Alongside him, it’ll probably be the creative spark of Dani Ceballos who has checked in for a second loan spell for 2020/21 from Real Madrid.
There is unlikely to be much change in attack – if any at all.
Eddie Nketiah has given Arteta some food for thought, with goals against West Ham in the league and Leicester in the cup.
He is, however, expected to take his place on the bench again tonight.
Alexandre Lacazette has scored in both league games so far this season and is likely to be flanked once again by Willian and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Here is how the Arsenal team might look this evening:
