Predicted Arsenal XI to face Manchester United

Arsenal are looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League today with victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Gunners were beaten 1-0 last time out by Leicester City in a disappointing result.

Mikel Arteta’s side did beat Dundalk 3-0 in the Europa League in midweek, but a much sterner test awaits in the Red Devils, who blew Newcastle United away and beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Arteta has several players out for the clash and needs to get his thinking cap on with regards to his team selection.

In goal, Bernd Leno should continue and may be protected by a back four of Hector Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi, Gabriel and Kieran Tierney.

With David Luiz out, as well as Rob Holding and Calum Chambers, Arteta may have no choice but to change to a back four – adding Granit Xhaka to the mix as he did against Leicester and Dundalk may be a bit of a risk against United.

Xhaka could and probably should go back into midfield, along with Thomas Partey and Dani Ceballos, with the Swiss sitting, Partey box-to-box and Ceballos providing a bit of attacking support when in possession.

Arteta has shown that he isn’t afraid to make big calls and so it would not be a surprise to see £53 million signing Alex Lacazette (Guardian) dropped to the bench after some poor form.

Lots of Arsenal fans have been clamouring for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to play through the middle and Arteta recently suggested there is a strong possibility of that happening some time soon.

To his left, Bukayo Saka would be a good shout to test Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and on the right Nicolas Pepe, 25, may find success against Luke Shaw.
