Power needs to keep his discipline against talented Barnsley trio

Max Power received his third red card of the season at the weekend, although it was later rescinded. Sunderland cannot afford for him to be rash tonight as they face a talented Barnsley midfield.

Sunderland have been boosted by the news that Max Power is available for tonight’s game against Barnsley.

In a top of the league clash, second place Sunderland host third place Barnsley at The Stadium of Light.

And despite receiving a red card at the weekend, Power is available again after Sunderland’s successful appeal saw his suspension rescinded.

But it was the 25-year-old third red card of the season, which is still a major concern for Sunderland fans.

And they cannot afford for Power to lose his discipline again tonight as he lines up against a talented Barnsley midfield.

In Alex Mowatt, Barnsley have one of the finest central midfielders in League One.

Power will be tasked with keeping Mowatt quiet and impressive duo George Moncur and Cameron McGeehan will also be tough to handle.

With such a talented midfield feeding prolific forwards Kieffer Moore and Cauley Woodrow, Sunderland need their players on top form.

The Black Cats played most of the game with ten men after Power’s dismissal against Walsall and Barnsley will punish them if they are given the chance.

Power’s return is a boost but he needs to keep his cool to guide Sunderland to victory tonight.
