‘Potential to be one of the greats’: Some Everton fans blown away by £50m man

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to praise Toffees attacker Richarlison for saying his goal is to be “remembered as a great player in the history of the club”.

The Brazilian has come a long way since first arriving in the Premier League in 2017 with Watford, when he impressed from the off and made an immediate impact with the Hornets.

Since then, the 23-year-old has become an essential player for Everton, with 26 goals and six assists from 70 appearances, as well as becoming a regular for the Selecao and helping them win the Copa America.

With Carlo Ancelotti now in the Goodison Park dugout, the future looks bright for Richarlison on the blue half of Merseyside, while Brazil will look to retain the Copa America next year before attempting to lift their sixth World Cup the following year.

“My goals are very clear in my head and they are interconnected,” the £50million man told the Everton website. “Since I arrived, I have always stated that I want to be victorious playing for Everton.

“I want to help take the club back to a prominent position and win trophies with Everton. I would love to achieve this goal and be remembered as a great player in the history of the club.

“Regarding individual and long-term goals, my great purpose is to continue to be called up by Brazil and gain more importance in the squad, then have the opportunity to play in a World Cup. For that to happen, I need to continue performing well and scoring goals for Everton.”

With the feelgood factor back at Goodison amid real hopes of future success, Richarlison’s comments proved music to the Everton fanbase’s ears on social media, with some of the reaction below:
