Potential Spurs boost as report provides update on Dean Henderson’s future

Tottenham Hotspur may be on alert with a report from The Sun claiming that Dean Henderson has been told that either he or David de Gea will be on the move this summer.

Spurs are reportedly monitoring Henderson’s situation at Old Trafford. It was also The Sun in January who claimed that they were making plans amid doubts over Hugo Lloris’s future.

It was suggested that Mauricio Pochettino wants his former captain at Paris Saint-Germain. And should he go, Tottenham would be interested in either Henderson or Sam Johnstone of West Bromwich Albion.

It remains to be seen if PSG target Lloris. But his form since that report emerged has been questionable. So signing a new goalkeeper may still be something Spurs want to consider anyway.

And if Henderson is the man they want, they may have just been handed a boost.

The 23-year-old has acted as de Gea’s understudy for much of the campaign. But The Sun notes that he is desperate to play regularly.

And interestingly, the report claims that Henderson has already been told that one of the goalkeepers will not be at Manchester United next season.

Of course, there is plenty of time left until the summer. But The Sun does suggest that Henderson is the more likely to move on.

TBR View: Spurs must seize opportunity – even if Lloris wants to stay

If Henderson is available, Tottenham must act. Lloris’s form in recent weeks has been a real concern. And at 34, it is asking a lot to expect the Frenchman to rediscover his best form on a consistent basis again.

Henderson will not be cheap. As The Sun notes, his contract could run until 2026. Meanwhile, the Manchester Evening News notes that he is on more than £100,000-a-week.

But he looks to be an outstanding talent. Spurs therefore, cannot miss out if the chance is there.
