Tottenham Hotspur appear to have been handed a slight boost in their pursuit of Sergio Reguilon, with Sevilla having completed a deal for another left-back in Marcos Acuna.

The Europa League winners have officially announced the 28-year-old as a signing, effectively meaning they won’t now move for Reguilon.

Sevilla had wanted to bring the player back to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, but Real Madrid’s asking price is seemingly too steep.

In the end, Sevilla made a play for Acuna instead at a reported cost of €10 million/£9 million (Goal).

The development could now open the door for Tottenham, who are one other team to have been credited with interest in the Spaniard (Daily Mail).

Manchester United are also reportedly in the mix.

With Sevilla now out of the running for Reguilon, Spurs have to act if they are indeed interested in the 23-year-old.

Manchester United are still right in the mix, but Jose Mourinho needs to beat his old club to the player.

Ben Davies did not convince in the club’s Premier League opener, and Reguilon could breathe new life into the left-back position for Spurs.
