Celtic may have received a boost in their bid to keep hold of Olivier Ntcham, with Southampton reportedly turning their attention to Hamza Choudhury.
Choudhury has impressed at the King Power in recent times, and was handed a new deal by the club last year.
But that seemingly isn’t a deterrent for Southampton, who believe they can prise the former England U21 star out of Brendan Rodgers’ clutches.
The development will be welcomed up in Scotland, with Celtic midfielder Ntcham having recently been linked with a move to St. Mary’s Stadium (90min).
Leicester are sure to demand a significant fee for £7,500-a-week star Choudhury (Spotrac), so the Hoops may not be out of the woods, but it is certainly a positive for them that Southampton are seemingly now looking at other midfielders.
TBR’s View – Celtic will have their fingers crossed
Ntcham is a key player for Celtic and is, on his day, one of the finest players in Scotland.
To lose him would be a hammer blow for Neil Lennon and his bid to deliver a 10th straight league title for the club.
Celtic will now be hoping to see Southampton press ahead with a move for Choudhury, as that will surely be the end of any interest in French maestro Ntcham.
