Port Vale captain Tom Pope as hilariously teased Stoke City manager Nathan Jones on Twitter after the Potters suffered a third Championship defeat in four on Wednesday night to Preston North End.
Jones joined Stoke City from Luton Town earlier this year, and stumbled towards the end of the 2018-19 Championship campaign. Now, there had been hope that Jones could have msterminded push for Premier League promotion.
But it could not have got off to a worse start. Defeats to Preston on Wednesday night, as well as Queens Park Rangers at home and newly-promoted Charlton Athletic away from home – and a draw against Derby – sees Stoke sit rock-bottom.
Pope, captain of Stoke’s local rivals Port Vale – who came close to suffering relegation to the National League last season – took to Twitter to tease Jones and fans of the Staffordshire-based Championship club.

TBR’s view – Jones cannot have long to go at Stoke
There is no doubt that Jones is one of the best up-and-coming managers in English football. His spell in charge of Luton was stunning, and he more than deserves to be given a chance at the Britannia.
However, Jones needs to seriously pick up points soon. Huddersfield have already sacked Jan Siewert, and other managers are edging towards the sack already. Jones is one of those, and unless things start to improve, he could be relieved of his duties.
