‘Poor man’s Kevin Kyle’ – Scotland fans criticise Oli McBurnie after Portugal loss

Scotland lost for the sixth time in eight matches last night. And fans are growing increasingly frustrated with their players.

Portugal travelled to Hampden Park and ran out 3-1 winners over a much-changed Scotland side.

Although it was an improved performance after their 2-1 loss to Israel, Scotland were still poor for large parts of the game.

Portugal’s Helder Costa struck just before the break. And second-half goals for Macedo Lopes and Eder put the game beyond doubt.

Despite Steven Naismith’s injury-time consolation goal for the Scots, they were well beaten.

One man was widely criticised after the game. Swansea City’s Oli McBurnie was given the opportunity to lead the line for Scotland in the absence of Leigh Griffiths.

But the 22-year-old, earning his sixth cap, failed to impress.

McBurnie is yet to score his first goal for Scotland and did himself no favours with his toothless display up top.

Here is what the Scotland fans said about the young striker after the game.
