Glenn Hoddle didn’t like what Ivan Perisic did in the 58th minute of Tottenham Hotspur’s game last night on BT Sport.

Spurs came through a tough test in France against Marseille last night after a poor first-half display.

Chancel Mbemba opened the scoring right before half-time and gave the home side a well-deserved 1-0 lead.

But Tottenham came out a completely different side in the second-half and soon levelled things up after a composed Clement Lenglet header.

But just minutes after Spurs got back on level terms as Perisic set-up Lenglet, he was on the receiving end of some criticism from Hoddle.

Hoddle didn’t like what Perisic did

Marseille started to push Spurs back once again after they conceded just nine minutes into the second-half.

Amine Harit attempted to switch the ball to Jonathan Clauss, who was making a run in behind Perisic.

The Croatian was perfectly placed to intercept the pass but instead attempted a first-time clearance.

The ball went straight back into the feet of Harit who then unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box.

Luckily for Perisic, the effort went just over Hugo Lloris’ goal but Hoddle wasn’t impressed with the 33-year-old.

“That’s a poor clearance, isn’t it? He [Harit] gets plenty of power but he just can’t keep it low enough.

“Good strike but couldn’t keep it down. You’ve got to say that Lloris had it covered.

“But it came off a Spurs player, Perisic with a poor clearance.”

Perisic has come up big in terms of providing goals for Tottenham so far this season, having registered seven assists already.

The Croatian veteran is yet to hit top gear for Spurs but is proving to be a useful player. His crossing has been superb this season, especially from dead-ball situations.

Antonio Conte will be expecting the wing-back to improve as he adjusts to Premier League football but will be content with the impact he’s made so far.

The Italian boss will be delighted with his side’s character last night as they battled back to pick up a vital 2-1 win.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s emphatic finish proved to be the last kick of the game and it sent Spurs through to the last-16 as group winners.
