Pontus Jansson captained Brentford to a fourth win in five games on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic, and the Swede posted on Instagram – before telling Leeds ace Luke Ayling that he misses him.

Jansson, 28, left Leeds in the summer to join Brentford under controversial circumstances. It has since been said that the Swede was sold for Financial Fairplay reasons, despite the centre-back being a fan favourite at Elland Road.

Since leaving Leeds, the former Torino defender has become Brentford captain and started all of the Bees’ 15 league games so far this season. Despite a tricky start, Brentford are back on form, picking up 12 points from their last possible 15.

The Sweden international uploaded a post on Instagram, underlining his delight at Brentford’s return to form – with Bryan Mbuemo, Kamohelo Mokotjo and Josh Dasilva all finding the back of the net at the DW Stadium.

Jansson initially joined Leeds on loan from Torino in the summer of 2016 under Garry Monk, before his temporary deal was made permanent later that season. He clocked up 120 appearances in all competitions for Leeds.

Leeds ace Ayling responded to Jansson’s post, applauding his former teammate by commenting “Go on skip”. Jansson replied, telling the former Arsenal and Bristol City star that he misses the Leeds defender – who left for £5.5million (Mirror).
