Pontus Jansson has uploaded a picture of his eye on Twitter after the Leeds United defender suffered a blow to his face during the Whites’ 2-0 away win over Preston North End.
A brace from under-fire striker Patrick Bamford secured all three points for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. It sees Leeds leapfrog Sheffield United back into second place, with the Blades playing on Wednesday.
Bamford scored his first with a superb strike from 20 yards out, before heading home a Mateusz Klich cross to double his tally. But the drama did not end there, as Jansson suffered a painful-looking knock to his eye.
Jansson, 28, suffered the injury late on and although it is unlikely to keep him out of Saturday’s Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday, it is certainly a nasty blow. He posted a picture on Twitter.

To put your head where it hurts shows the passion Jansson has for Leeds, and their desire to gain promotion. He was not the only player to suffer a facial injury.
Gjanni Alioski had his head bandaged up in the first half. But it is that gritty passion, twinned with some wonderful football that keeps Leeds in the mix for promotion.
Leeds now have five games to play and could easily drop back into third if Sheffield United beat Birmingham on Wednesday night. But the determination of Jansson and others shows they are not about to let up in the race for the Premier League.
