Pontus Jansson has finally broken his silence on social media after Leeds United suffered a major blip in their bid to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League, in the form of losing to Sheffield United.
The 28-year-old has been in excellent form of late for Leeds alongside captain Liam Cooper. The Whites were favourites to beat the Blades at Elland Road, but Chris Wilder’s side earned a 1-0 win.
To make matters worse, Jansson suffered a knee injury during the match – after Marcelo Bielsa had made it three subs. It saw the Swede go up front, before replacing Kiko Casilla in goal after the Spaniard’s red card.
The centre-back tried to build up the support from Leeds fans prior to the defeat. Now, he has broken his silence since the defeat to Sheffield United – after it was confirmed he would be sidelined for three weeks.
TBR’s view
Losing both to the Blades and Jansson for three weeks if a huge double blow. Leeds fans are the closest they have been to Premier League football for 15 years.
But Jansson’s injury has come at the best time – with the international break now in place. It means he may only miss Leeds’ next outing against Millwall at Elland Road.
Leeds need Jansson desperately if they are to gain promotion. In the meantime, it is likely that Gaetano Berardi will return to the fold at centre-back.
