Gylfi Sigurdsson will be playing in the Premier League next season
The Icelandic midfielder has been Swansea’s best player once again this season and he showed his class at Old Trafford to earn a point for his team. He played in an advanced role behind the two strikers and caused problems as he managed to get in between the lines with regularity.
On Sunday, Sigurdsson became the first player to score in three consecutive away appearances at Old Trafford since Sergio Aguero in April 2015. It came from an excellently struck free-kick, underlining his technical quality and impressive self-belief. He got the ball up and down quickly, giving David de Gea no chance.
This point has moved them back to within two points of Hull City and it will be a nail-biting final few matches for both teams. Regardless of whether the Swans stay up or not, Sigurdsson will be playing in the Premier League next season.
He is one of the best-attacking midfielders in the league and he deserves to be playing at a higher level. The Icelandic international was unlucky during his time at Tottenham and he is now ready for another chance with a top six club.
