Mauricio Pochettino has offered an insight into his plans to motivate his Tottenham side ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg against Ajax tonight.

Jurgen Klopp got his Liverpool side believing they could overhaul a 3-0 deficit last night and Pochettino has told the Telegraph about his pre-match team-talk ideas as they seek to join the Reds in the final.

He said: “I talk from my heart and tell them what I feel in the last moment. The most important is to try and enjoy, to try and bring to the players that belief, as we have done to get here but we must also dream.”

Pochettino is bound to have been disappointed by how slowly his Spurs side started their home leg, which last night’s staggering performance from Liverpool puts into even less favourable context.

But they remain alive and kicking, knowing that one away goal changes the complexion of the tie and the return of Heung-min Son only serves to boost their attacking threat.

Belief is always Pochettino’s core message and given how Liverpool have made a three-goal deficit appear reversible against more experienced opposition, there’s no reason for Tottenham to doubt they can embark upon their own comeback and set up an all-English final.
