Plenty of Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Dejan Lovren’s World Cup dismay

Dejan Lovren has somehow developed a troubled relationship with the fanbase of Tottenham Hotspur. It seemed to develop after he was torn apart by Harry Kane in October during Spurs’ 4-1 victory at Wembley.

That was the turning point in his Liverpool career and Lovren has been in much better form ever since that fateful day.

The World Cup started the debate once again.

When England faced Croatia in the semi-finals Tottenham’s Kane struggled to get the better of the Liverpool man who put in a stellar performance.

It led Lovren to dub himself one of the best in the world and Tottenham fans were not fond of that statement, especially with Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in their ranks.

Lovren did not have his best game today. France scored four goals as they won the World Cup. Lovren played average, but will not be pleased with how the game panned out.

Tottenham fans loved it. The result also meant their captain Hugo Lloris, who himself made a massive error in the game, lifted the World Cup for the first time.
