It would be fair to say that Theo Walcott is not the most popular player at Everton. The former England winger had a great start to life after arriving at Goodison Park in a reported (The Telegraph) £20 million deal under Sam Allardyce.
However, he soon fell into a long run of poor form. Everton fans have since been consistently frustrated with the performance of the attacker and he is often a lightning rod on Twitter for upset supporters when the going gets tough.
But at the moment, not even the most cynical of Everton fans can have anything but praise for the former Arsenal player.
Walcott is currently in fine form and that continued yesterday as Everton defeated Watford in the EFL Cup.
The 30-year-old came on for Moise Keane, inexplicably played out wide, at half-time and he put a fire under what had been a drab game up until that point.
His good work was even rewarded when a delightful cross was headed home by Everton man-of-the-match Mason Holgate.
It was an excellent display from the player and for once he was causing a stir among Everton fans on Twitter for all the right reasons.
Great game Theo, came in and really made a difference! 👍🏼

Walcott in fine form. Stretches opposition defence and consistently gets in behind!

Coleman was terrible, delph doesnt offer much, walcott changed the game even if the treatment of kean is poor. Were through anyway onto the next round! 🔵 #EFC

Still fuming over that Kean substitution even though Walcott changed the game. The poor kid is getting hung out to dry by Silva!!!
— Gaz Jones (@GazJonesEFC) October 29, 2019
Walcott excellent again, despite all the moaners at half time. Not that I’d have taken Kean off.

Very good ball by Walcott 😱

U will get shot for saying that. But I agree

Walcott gave balance 2nd half. Motm
He’s going to destroy Keane playing him on wing clearly not his position
— MICHAEL (@mickybluey) October 29, 2019
