England’s win over Colombia in the World Cup yesterday is undoubtedly the talk of social media today. England fans have been revelling in a first World Cup penalty shootout win and heralding the performance of several players.
In some cases, fans are hoping their clubs make a move for some of the more impressive England lads.
One such scenario involves Liverpool and Harry Maguire. Many fans of the Anfield side took to Twitter last night to suggest that Maguire would be a perfect addition to their back-line.
Of course, that view was not universal, as is any opinion in football, but a lot of Liverpool fans were discussing the possibility of this deal.
Rightly so. Maguire has been tremendous at the World Cup and yesterday was no different. He was an absolute beast defensively but did not stop there. When England needed characters to step up in extra-time Maguire did so.
Carrying the ball from defence he helped out the gassed midfield with a class display.
He was, however, out jumped for Colombia’s goal by another apparent Liverpool target in Yerry Mina but such was the brilliance overall, that fact was quickly forgotten by fans.
Liverpool fans want more improvement to their back-line next season. Maguire, who cost Leicester City £17 million last summer, is the first-choice for many a Reds fan…
Tell you what, I’d have Harry Maguire next to Virgil.

The people who don’t want Liverpool to sign Harry Maguire as a back up has set the bar pretty high. I’d love him at Liverpool, even as a starter.

After watching this years World Cup, I’d love it if we swooped for Maguire and sick him next to big Virgil at the back ??#lfc
