Plenty of Liverpool fans are overjoyed at Sergio Ramos’ World Cup exit

Liverpool fans are certainly not keen of Spain’s captain Sergio Ramos.

Spain are out of the World Cup after losing on penalties to host nation Russia in Moscow. Igor Akinfeev was the hero, the goalkeeper saving two of Spain’s attempts. It was a result that came as a massive shock for fans and left the Spanish players distraught on the pitch – including their captain Sergio Ramos.

Which filled Liverpool fans with joy.

Ramos was left in tears after the shoot-out and fans of the Merseyside club showed him absolutely no sympathy.

The Spaniard has been public enemy number one at times since taking on Liverpool in the Champions League final.

He was the man who hauled Mohamed Salah to the ground causing the shoulder injury that saw him out of the game and, nearly, the World Cup.

Ramos also left an elbow on goalkeeper Loris Karius. The German, who made two big mistakes in the final, was later found to have suffered a concussion during the game. Whether or not that played a role in his errors is up for debate.

Liverpool were incensed by the behaviour of Ramos throughout the game, including some of his play-acting.

So watching him get his comeuppance today certainly had a lot of Liverpool fans happy…
