A number of Arsenal fans have urged Mikel Arteta to name Joe Willock in his starting XI for the Gunners’ return to Premier League action this weekend.

The 21-year-old has impressed in what limited game time he’s had this season, in particular against Dundalk and Molde in the Europa League.

In both games, Willock registered a goal and an assist, whilst also proving a constant thorn in the opponents’ side with his excellent movement and energy.

He’s yet to feature in the Premier League this season, but with Mohamed Elneny unable to feature against Leeds on Sunday, some Arsenal supporters believe this is a great opportunity for the Hale End graduate to get a start.

Here is what some fans have been saying on social media:

Willock is undoubtedly a talented young player who’s up against some tough competition for minutes at Arsenal, but he’s certainly staked a claim with his superb displays in the Europa League.

Surely it’s just a matter of time before he gets Premier League minutes, and if he keeps on this trajectory, becoming a first-team regular could be on the cards soon enough.
