'Please': Thierry Henry stunned by Tottenham player who reminds him of Santi Cazorla
Thierry Henry has compared Tottenham Hotspur star Ivan Perisic to Arsenal cult hero Santi Cazorla.
Henry was speaking on CBS Sports on Paramount+ (01/11/22, 22:10) after Spurs beat Marseille in the Champions League.
Tottenham fans experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during the game, with Spurs struggling in the first half.
Antonio Conte’s charges looked set for elimination after Chancel Mbemba put the hosts in the lead.
However, Clement Lenglet drew Tottenham level again and put qualification back on the table.
Perisic got the ball rolling as he delivered a superb cross with his so-called weaker foot which his teammate put away.
And Henry loved what he saw from both his compatriot and the Croatia international.
It was nonetheless a nerve-wracking second half for both sets of fans, before Spurs made sure of the result late on.
“Yes, the Frenchman, going back to his country and scoring,” said the Highbury icon.
“But the delivery of Ivan Perisic, please! Santi Cazorla, left foot and right foot. I have seen from him.
“(Ousmane) Dembele also, I have seen from him. But what a ball with his left foot!”
Perisic’s delivery and Lenglet’s goal paved the way for Tottenham to eventually finish top of the group.
As Marseille committed men forward late on, Spurs caught them on the break, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg sealed victory for his team.
Perisic a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham
Spurs bolstered their ranks significantly in summer as they sought to kick on following their top-four finish last term.
Conte worked with Perisic before, so it wasn’t overly difficult for Tottenham to bring the 33-year-old to N17.
Perisic has proven a great acquisition for Spurs and, best of all, it didn’t cost them anything in transfer fees.
Tottenham fans will surely be keeping an eye on how he fares at the upcoming World Cup, if/when his spot is confirmed.
Perisic is in the provisional squad for the 2018 World Cup finalists, as is Spurs cult hero Luka Modric.
