Mohamed Diame completed 90 minutes in the defeat to West Ham in the Premier League – and some of the Newcastle United fans on Twitter ripped into their player for his performance.

The 31-year-old midfielder struggled in the centre of the park on Saturday and ended up on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline.

Rafael Benitez’s side saw their three-game winning run come to an end, as Javier Hernandez (two) and Felipe Anderson were on the scoresheet for West Ham.

The North East club now turn their attention to a trip against Everton in midweek and will be keen for a response, as they are just three point above the relegation places.

Diame is an ever-present in the Newcastle starting XI, but is renowned for being an inconsistent player that can go from a destructive enforcer to a liability.

The central midfielder was not at his sharpest against an efficient West Ham side and sloppy on the ball.

Jonjo Shelvey was named on the bench by Benitez for the game and it will be interesting to see if the pass master comes back into the side.
