Watford have announced that Craig Cathcart is staying. The club’s official website has confirmed that Cathcart has signed a new four-year contract at Vicarage Road.
This will keep him at Watford until summer 2023. Javi Gracia rates the centre-back highly and wants to keep him as part of his plans.
Cathcart was a regular for the Hornets last season. He played 41 games in all competitions, including four in the lead up to the FA Cup final, and he scored three goals.
The Northern Ireland international has been a consistent performer for Watford over the years. Since his 2014 arrival, he has racked up just shy of 150 appearances.

But many Watford fans feel that he needs another centre-back to play alongside Cathcart. The 30-year-old needs a new central defensive partner to help him next season.
Watford supporters want defensive reinforcements to push on next season. It was a relatively successful season with a mid-table finish and an FA Cup final.
But the end of season mini-slump cost them in the push for a top-seven finish. With a new defensive partner alongside Cathcart, Watford could push on.
Here are what fans are saying after Watford confirmed Catchart’s four-year extension.
