A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have urged Steven Gerrard to start Joe Aribo at left-back after Ibrox assistant Gary McAllister delivered bad news regarding Borna Barisic’s fitness.
Barisic took a blow to the kidney area during Rangers’ victory over Braga in the Europa League round of 32 first leg at Ibrox on Thursday night.
The Croatian left-back had to be replaced in the 73rd minute of the game, with Greg Stewart coming on and Gerrard switching Aribo over to left-back.
Shortly afterwards, Aribo delivered a simply magical goal, weaving through a crowd of opposition defenders before slotting home the equaliser.

The 23-year-old’s goal came either side of Ianis Hagi’s brace, which began and capped off a superb comeback from two goals down and a truly superb European night at Ibrox.
Up next for Rangers is the Scottish Premiership trip to St Johnstone and McAllister confirmed that Barisic will miss the game.
A worrying update given how crucial Barisic has been in recent months, but in wake of “the world’s best left-back” (the words of the Rangers Twitter admin on Thursday night) doing his thing on Thursday, some Bears think there’s a straightforward solution.
