It’s fair to say that a sizeable chunk of Tottenham Hotspur fans don’t want Clement Lenglet signing.

Arsenal or Spurs?

Sport claims that Tottenham and Arsenal are the most likely clubs to sign the Barcelona defender this summer, with the North London pair both interested.

However, there is a feeling among the Tottenham fan base that Lenglet wouldn’t be much of an upgrade on what they already have.

And many Spurs fans would not be at all upset at seeing the £32 million defender (Liverpool Echo) join Arsenal instead of them.

Arsenal chances limited?

Unfortunately for Spurs, any chance of a Lenglet move to Arsenal look distant.

The Gunners appear to be close to completing the signing of Ben White, which surely means that they will not chase another central defender this summer.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are likely to be in the market for at least one centre-back over the close season.

Spurs’ current options failed to convince last term, even with a famed defensive coach in Jose Mourinho at the helm.

And Nuno and Fabio Paratici seem to have made improving Tottenham’s backline one of their top priorities this summer.
