A number of Leeds United fans have welcomed speculation claiming Raphinha is in line for a bumper new contract.

According to the Daily Star, Whites director Victor Orta has been in talks with the Brazil star’s agent over a new deal.

Leeds have reportedly offered Raphinha £100,000-a-week, almost double his current salary.

Talks between Orta and Deco – the player’s representative – are reportedly progressing smoothly.

In addition, Orta reportedly believes securing Raphinha long-term future could also persuade Bielsa to remain beyond this season.

Raphinha signed a deal worth £55,000-a-week when he joined Leeds from Rennes for £17million in 2020.

He has scored eight goals in 19 appearances this season and has also won five caps for Brazil.

Raphinha’s quality has – somewhat predictably – seen him linked with other clubs.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are just three of the clubs apparently eyeing Raphinha.

But Leeds now seemingly closing in on tying their star down to new terms, this could finally put an end to speculation.

Failing that, clubs would have to pay a huge amount if they wanted to sign him after penning a new deal.

Here’s what some Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter about the speculation:
