Gabriel Jesus more than doubled his Premier League goalscoring tally for the season in Manchester City’s 5-1 win against Watford on Saturday.

The Brazilian scored four goals against Roy Hodgson’s Hornets at the Etihad Stadium to take his Premier League tally to seven goals for the season.

The 25-year-old also provided the assist for Kevin de Bruyne which meant he was involved in all five of Pep Guardiola side’s goals.

It’s quite rare to see the former Palmeiras youngster play as City’s out and out striker, as he has become more accustomed to featuring on the right-hand side where he got his goal against Liverpool in the recent league clash.

City’s number nine may seek a summer move with the ambition of playing as a club’s main striker likely to be at the top of his reasoning to pursue a new challenge.

With City reportedly itching closer to landing Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland, Jesus has been linked with a reunion with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

The Spaniard was Guardiola’s assistant at City before taking his first managerial position at the Emirates Stadium.

Following his four-goal salvo against Watford, Jesus became the 24th player in Premier League history to score four goals in a single league game.

The South American joined the list which features Premier League legends such as Thierry Henry, Wayne Rooney and Mohamed Salah.

But who has scored the most goals in a single Premier League match.

There are five players who have scored five goals in a Premier League game and here we take a look at who makes that prestigious category…

Andy Cole

Just two months after making the controversial move from Newcastle United to Manchester United, Cole banged in five goals against Ipswich Town at Old Trafford, March 1995. United beat the Tractor Boys 9-0.

Cole went on to score 121 goals for Manchester United and developed a lethal understanding and partnership with Dwight Yorke which played a crucial role in Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils winning the treble in 1999.

Cole, who was the Premier League’s top scorer in the 1993/94 campaign with 34 goals, won 11 trophies at the Theatre of Dreams after making the move from St James’ Park.

The 50-year-old sits third in the all time Premier League top scorers charts with 187 goals.

Alan Shearer

It was four years until another player matched Cole’s feat and it was Newcastle United legend Shearer who became the second man to score five goals in a Premier League game.

The Magpies’ clinical number nine put Sheffield Wednesday to the sword in September 1999 when Sir Bobby Robson’s Toon Army battered the Owls 8-0 at St James’ Park.

The Premier League’s all time top scorer with 260 goals may never have won the Premier League with his beloved Geordies but his place in history is assured.

The 39-year-old who recently announced his retirement from professional football sits ninth in the Premier League’s all time top scorers list with 162 goals.

The former striker scored more goals against Wigan Athletic (10) than any other club in his career.

But it was in November 2009 when the former England man put on a goalscoring clinic at the Latic’s expense. Defoe scored five goals in a 9-1 win against Roberto Martinez’s side at White Hart Lane.

Blackburn Rovers were the charismatic Bulgarian’s favourite opponents when it came to goalscoring throughout his career.

In his third season at Manchester United, the former Tottenham Hotspur forward put five goals passed his former Spurs teammate Paul Robinson at Old Trafford in November 2010.

Berbatov produced a five-star performance as United beat Rovers 7-1 and one of the goals involved Berbatov starting and finishing the move after picking up the ball in the left-back area.

The technically-blessed forward scored 94 goals from 229 Premier League games during his time with Spurs, United and Fulham.

Sergio Aguero

This list wouldn’t be complete without the Premier League’s all time top foreign goalscorer Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine was a revelation in England and he loved playing against Newcastle United. The former Atletico Madrid man scored 15 goals from 15 games against the Magpies, they were his favourite opposition when it came to goalscoring alongside Chelsea.

But in October 2015, Aguero ran riot against Steve McCaren’s Toon Army as he scored five goals in a 6-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.
