Aston Villa opted to sell Jaden Philogene to Hull City back in September – a decision which is now starting to backfire.
The England U21 international has been one of the standout players in the Championship so far this season – and he has now made headlines after a quite remarkable strike.
So, what has Jaden Philogene done after leaving Aston Villa? Let’s take a look…
Philogene makes headlines after leaving Aston Villa
Well, the 22-year-old has been a revelation at the MKM Stadium this season.
Philogene has seven goals and five assists to his name in 17 Championship appearances, and put the icing on the cake with a stunning effort in the 2-1 win over Rotherham on Tuesday evening.
The Hull City No.23 delicately nutmegged Oliver Rathbone inside the box, before sitting the same defender on his backside and curling a delightful rabona over Viktor Johansson.

Unfortunately, Philogene’s effort officially went down as an own goal due to a slight deflection, but that takes nothing away from the audacious strike.
At the moment, it is starting to look as if Aston Villa made a real mistake in allowing the Londoner – who actually wanted to stay at Villa Park – to join Hull City.
Aston Villa can buy Philogene back
Interestingly, Aston Villa actually negotiated a buyback clause in the agreement with Hull City.
Tan Kesler – Vice Chairman of the Tigers – told Hull Live that the Villans are able to bring Philogene back to Villa Park for a sum of £15m if both clubs are playing in the same division.

As things stand, that seems like a bargain for a player who appears talented enough to become a £30m player in no time.
Be sure to keep an eye on Philogene’s development – if he keeps performing like this, Aston Villa will surely kick themselves for selling him to Hull City, if they are not already doing so.
