Pape Gueye is reportedly close to joining Arsenal ahead of a summer switch and the Le Havre midfielder has surely added fuel to the fire – by commenting on Matteo Guendouzi’s latest Instagram post, and the Gunners ace has responded.
French outlet Jeunes Footeux have reported that 21-year-old Gueye is ‘very close’ to Arsenal in a £5million move, as he continues to shine in the second tier of French football with Le Havre. He has even captained his current side.
Guendouzi joined Arsenal in the summer of 2018 after impressing in France’s second division with Lorient and a move is very similar – especially given the two know eachother after combining for France’s Under-19 side in 2017.
Mikel Arteta is likely to be on the lookout for central midfielders ahead of the summer window. Dani Ceballos’ loan is hardly likely to be made permanent, while Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira have both been linked with moves this season.
Guendouzi posted on Instagram (above) a picture from the Gunners’ training base in Dubai, which saw Arteta’s men work hard during the winter break – where other sides took time off from football to recharge mentally.
In response to Guendouzi’s post on Instagram, Gueye commented and Guendouzi reacted to the reportedly imminent arrival ahead of the summer window. His comment surely only strenghens rumours he could be on his way to north London.
