'Player of the season so far' - Mason Holgate has plenty of Everton fans raving
Mason Holgate put in another fine display yesterday as Everton got themselves an away point at West Ham.
The Toffees came from behind to rescue a point in London and continue their good start to life under Carlo Ancelotti.
There were a number of positives for Everton, too. A debut for promising youngster, Anthony Gordon, as well as an improved second-half performance.
Another positive for the club was the performance of the aforementioned Holgate. After being linked with a move to Sheffield United earlier in the season, he seems to have gone from strength to strength.
Furthermore, his performances seem to be being appreciated by Everton fans. Yesterday Holgate handed the man of the match award against the Hammers.
Deservedly so, too, as he put in another mature defensive display for Ancelotti’s men.
Following the game, Twitter was brimming with positive comments in the direction of Holgate.
It seems that despite looking likely to leave just a few months back, Holgate is now cemented as one of the first names on the Everton team sheet.
Deserved. Class again

TBR View – Much improved from Holgate
It’s a fair comment to say Ancelotti and Duncan Ferguson have had a positive effect on Holgate.
He was floundering somewhat under Marco Silva. However, after being given the initial boost under the guidance of Ferguson, he seems to be stepping things up further under Ancelotti.
It’s great to see, too. Holgate has long been revered as someone who could make the step into the England camp.
For him to be finally showing that sort of form is only good for him, Everton, and the national team.
