Henri Saivet has now criticised Newcastle following a miserable spell at St James’ Park.
The 33-year-old made the comments when speaking to 90 Football.
So, what did Henri Saivet say about Newcastle? Let’s take a look…
What Henri Saivet said about Newcastle
Well, the Senegal international joined Newcastle in a £5m deal from Bordeaux back in January 2016.
However, Saivet made just eight appearances for the Magpies before departing in 2021, having been loaned out to Saint-Étienne, Sivasspor and Bursaspor during his time at Newcastle.
Now, the Pau No.8 has explained exactly what happened to him at St James’ Park.
Saivet said: “They wanted to make a mess… they affected me a lot mentally. I told myself there was something more important than football.
“I would have preferred if they had told me, look, you’re rubbish, you’re the worst player we have bought.
“One day, I heard something from the Director of Football, Lee Charnley. We don’t want to let him go. If he leaves, he’ll shine elsewhere. They were crazy.”

What a bizarre situation.
It is hard not to feel sorry for Saivet, and it baffles us that Newcastle only ever handed the Dakar-born midfielder a total of just eight appearances.
The Bordeaux academy graduate is now captain of Pau in France, where he is enjoying himself with 14 goals in 56 appearances.
Newcastle have come a long way
Thanks to the tremendous work of Eddie Howe, people tend to forget that Newcastle operated in this chaotic fashion not that long ago.

The days of Mike Ashley, Steve Bruce and Charnley were mind boggling times on Tyneside, but fortunately, that is all firmly in the past as the Magpies now aim to return to Europe’s elite.
Hopefully, nobody at St James’ Park feels as isolated as Saivet did during his time with Newcastle, and the Magpies learn from this disappointing chapter.
