A player linked with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal has spoken out about his plans for the future, in conversation with French outlet Telefoot.
Houssem Aouar has been a star for Ligue 1 side Lyon over the last three years, becoming one of the top young midfielders in Europe during his time with the French outfit.
The Daily Mail have claimed that the Lyon midfielder has admirers at Arsenal, and is one of a number of names that could be targeted this summer by the Gunners as Arteta looks to reshape his team.
With nine goals and seven assists in all competitions, 2019-20 is shaping up to be the best of Aouar’s career, and at just 21 years old, there is a lot of potential for further progress.

Therefore, it’s little surprise that Aouar is said to be on the Emirates Stadium side’s radar, but the player himself has admitted that he isn’t thinking about a summer transfer, so as to not “pollute” his mind.
“I am not really thinking about it, I am more thinking about the weeks to come,” said Aouar.
“They are going to be important for Lyon and for us. I have a fair amount to still bring to the team. I am trying not to pollute my mind and stay concentrated on the pitch.”

Aside from the impressive stats, Aouar has also been spoken of very highly in footballing circles for a number of years now.
The France Under-21 international has been highly praised by Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola, who told Sky Sports: “He is incredible.
“He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”
Understandably, Aouar is playing down any speculation about his future as he bids to finish the season strongly with Lyon.
Nonetheless, he would be a great asset for Arsenal, particularly with question marks of the future of Mesut Ozil at the Emirates Stadium.
Aouar is more of a deeper lying playmaker than a number 10, but has the mobility and drive to get forward into advanced areas and even play out wide.
