Arsenal sold Granit Xhaka to Bayer Leverkusen back in July – and the Switzerland international has made quite the impact in Germany.
The midfield maestro finds himself top of the Bundesliga – ten points clear of Bayern Munich – while also setting a number of individual records, including three in his last outing alone.
So, what records has Granit Xhaka smashed since leaving Arsenal? Let’s take a look…
Granit Xhaka breaks three records in one game following Arsenal exit
Well, the Gunners sold Xhaka for £21.4m as he entered the final 12 months of his contract.
The Bayer Leverkusen No.34 has been a revelation in midfield under Xabi Alonso, offering the German outfit a huge amount of control as they take the Bundesliga by storm.
Xhaka was always something of a pass master at Arsenal, and his ability in that respect has seen him dominate three specific rankings in the Bundesliga.
During Sunday’s 2-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg, the man from Basel recorded 161 accurate passes, with 134 of those coming in the opposition’s half, and 87 taking place in the attacking third.

All three passing statistics are a record in the Bundesliga this season – according to WhoScored.
What an achievement from the 31-year-old.
Win win
As far as transfers go, we rarely see a deal where all parties end up being this successful.
Arsenal received good money for a player soon to be a free agent, and put that towards a significant midfield upgrade in Declan Rice, who is arguably a contender to win the PFA Player of the Year award this season.

On Bayer Leverkusen’s side of the deal, Alonso received a top playmaker who has transformed his midfield, and taken the German outfit to within touching distance of a maiden Bundesliga title.
It was a win win for everybody involved, to say the least.
