Arsenal fans want Ainsley Maitland-Niles to start at right-back at the weekend against Chelsea.
Right-back chance?
Maitland-Niles was filmed during training at London Colney yesterday scoring an excellent goal, as he bent in a shot with the outside of his right foot.
It was noteworthy that the Arsenal full-back was stationed on the right at the time, which led to speculation that he could be being deployed as a right-back in training.
Maitland-Niles has previously said that he doesn’t want to play as full-back, as he sees himself as a central midfielder.
However, with the Gunners really struggling for candidates to play on the right-hand side of their defence, there is a feeling that he would actually be their best option to start.
And Arsenal fans are hoping to see Maitland-Niles feature in the position at the weekend.
Big issues?
Arsenal used Calum Chambers as their right-back on opening day against Brentford, but he struggled.
With Hector Bellerin’s future far from certain, it seems unlikely that he will start against Chelsea.
Arsenal also do have the option of using Cedric, but he has rarely looked up to the quality of being a regular starter.
And right-back could become a real problem area for the Gunners, unless one of their current players makes the position his own.
