Last summer it emerged that Aston Villa had made a move for Danish international Pione Sisto.
As reported by Faro de Vigo, Aston Villa made a €10 million (£9m) transfer bid for the 21-cap international in the summer.
It seems that his club, Celta Vigo, were open to the sale but he turned down the move.
The report claims that Aston Villa were ready to take Sisto on a tour of Birmingham to try and charm him into a move. However, Sisto was adamant about staying with the La Liga club and fighting for his place in the first-team picture.
Unfortunately, he struggled to make an impact and after La Liga’s restart he lost his place in the Celta Vigo starting XI and, on occasion, the matchday squad.

This summer it looked like he was set for a return to Denmark with FC Midtjylland. However, the club’s chairman Claus Steinlein ruled out the move in conversation with B.T this week.
So should Aston Villa return for the mercurial talent?
Sisto will no doubt be known to the club’s new sporting director, Johan Lange, who is a Danish countryman.
Sisto would also be available at a far reduced price. As reported by VAVEL this week, Celta are now ready to sell for just €3 million (£2.7m).
The electric winger is an inconsistent performer but when on his game is a precocious talent who can be almost impossible to stop.
Aston Villa will no doubt be tempted to go back in for the player they were ready to show around the city this time last year.
