‘A magician’: Pierre Hojbjerg spotted lauding one Tottenham player in training ahead of West Ham clash

It’s safe to say that Dejan Kulusevski has had a positive impact on things at Tottenham since he arrived in January.

The Swedish winger was signed alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and has immediately improved things for Spurs in wide areas. A number of fine displays have caught the eye, and he played a part in midweek as well as he helped Conte’s side see off Brighton.

Of course, Kulusevski’s performances are catching the eye a tad in North London. And it seems his efforts are going down well with the Tottenham squad, too. Indeed, you only have to look at the latest Spurs training video on YouTube and you’ll catch Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg labelling Kulusevski a ‘magician, a Swedish magician’ as the players set off to warm up.

Hojbjerg clearly knows a player when he sees one and the Scandinavian connection might have helped Kulusevski settle in that bit easier. Being called a magician by a teammate is quite the compliment, too. But in fairness, ‘Kulu’ deserves the credit he is getting.

Some might have questioned the logic in bringing in another winger in January but Conte was always adamant he wanted to see improvements and he’s got that with Kulusevski.

It is a testament to how well he’s doing that Lucas Moura is being kept out. The Brazilian has been superb himself for Spurs but Kulusevski seems to have taken the ball and ran with it.

Make no doubt, this is a fine piece of business by Spurs. And while they might have missed out on Luis Diaz, Kulusevski is at least providing his own moments.
