'Not impossible': Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has just sent a message to Tottenham fans on Instagram
Tottenham go into the World Cup break fourth in the table and into the last 16 of the Champions League, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg seems happy enough.
The Danish midfielder is now off to Qatar with his country as they look to build on their run to the semi-finals of the Euros last year. Hojbjerg, of course, will be key for Denmark, just as he is for Tottenham.
Hojbjerg has become one of Antonio Conte’s main men in the XI. There won’t be many times Conte doesn’t select Hojbjerg, who has been sensational at times for Spurs.
And taking to Instagram a few hours ago, Hojbjerg posted his departing message to Tottenham fans, who will be buoyed by what they’re reading from the star midfielder.
Certainly, Hojbjerg has been one of the beneficiaries of Conte’s intense style of management. Indeed, the Dane even uses the word ‘intensive’ in his post here.
For Tottenham supporters, they will be more than happy for Hojbjerg to have a good World Cup. Crucially, though, they’ll want to see their star man return with no injuries.
Should the Danish star pick up a knock in Qatar, then Conte and Spurs will worry. His influence is massive, and Tottenham need him fit to keep pushing on for that top four spot.
TBR’s View: Hojbjerg is so crucial for Tottenham
There will be so many Tottenham fans sweating over their players at this World Cup. We are in uncharted territory when it comes to the winter tournament.
For certain clubs, like Spurs, a few players are absolutely key. Hojbjerg is one of them and if he does get injured, then it will be a huge blow.
Hojbjerg, you’d imagine, will be his usual fully committed self for Denmark. Tottenham fans, though, will be hoping for a Denmark early exit and for the safe return of their star midfielder.
