Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang responds when asked who he prefers – Tottenham or Real Madrid

When Arsenal parted company with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, the Gunners fan reaction was pretty mixed at the time.

The 33-year-old joined Barcelona in January after an acrimonious departure which saw him fall out with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Some Arsenal fans bemoaned the fact that the Gunners boss let a top striker leave for free mid-season.

And the Gunners’ failure to make the Premier League top four suggested that Arteta’s gamble had backfired.

However, there were also Arsenal fans who believed Aubameyang had to go due to his alleged disciplinary issues.

Indeed, Arteta’s failure to land a top replacement in January seemed almost vindicated with Gabriel Jesus’ arrival.

What’s done is done, but Aubameyang’s January departure will likely remain a subject of debate for some time.

But despite having left Arsenal months ago, he still seems fond enough of the Gunners not to entertain praising rivals Tottenham.

Aubameyang has taken part in an ESPN Q&A called “You Have To Answer”, where he answered a series of tricky personal opinion questions.

One of those was “Spurs or Real Madrid?”, to which he replied “Real Madrid” after not much hesitation, and subsequently laughing.

Obviously having joined Barcelona, Aubameyang’s answer probably won’t go down well with his current club’s fans.

Nonetheless, Arsenal fans will no doubt appreciate that he’s not opted for their bitter north London rivals in the Q&A.

Aubameyang enjoyed a bright start to his Barcelona career, scoring 13 goals in all competitions.

He helped Xavi’s side salvage something from a testing season and qualify for the Champions League.

Aubameyang may well be on the move again this summer, amid links with Chelsea.
