The president of the Gabon football association, Pierre Alain Mounguengui, has urged Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave Arsenal this summer.

The Gabon chief was speaking to ESPN about the future of the Gunners star. Aubameyang has been tipped to leave the Emirates in recent weeks, with his wage demands apparently an issue at the club. Indeed, Barcelona were thought to be keen before cooling their interest in March. (Sun)
And Mounguengui has said that the former Dortmund star should be looking to move due to Arsenal’s ‘lack of ambition’.
“I don’t want to say that Arsenal aren’t ambitious, but Arsenal don’t have ambitions as high as some other clubs as far as Europe is concerned,”, Moungunegui said.
“So, if Pierre could secure a contract with a more ambitious club, he would definitely find his place there.”

Aubameyang has been in fine form for Arsenal this season. The Gabon star has scored 20 times between the Premier League and Europa League, with 17 coming domestically.
However, despite this form, the Gunners are unsure whether to keep hold of their star man. The 30-year-old has a year left to run on his contract and Mikel Arteta could choose to cash in this summer.
A point made and perhaps a dose of reality for Arsenal – TBR View
While it’s a controversial statement to make and one that will provoke debate, Moungunegui does have a point.
Arsenal have lagged behind in recent years, especially when it comes to challenging for the Premier League title.
The likes of City, Liverpool, and now, even Leicester, are seemingly ahead of the Gunners. It makes sense then, for the Gabon chief to insist his star man move away from the Emirates.
In fairness to Arsenal, if they can land a big fee for Aubameyang then it might work out for the best anyway.
At 30, he doesn’t have too many years left at his very best. Arsenal, then, have a big call to make.
