Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘in favour’ of Arsenal’s pursuit of Houssem Aouar

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had admitted he would love to see the club sign reported target, Houssem Aouar.

The Gunners are said to be tracking the French midfielder and a move for the 22-year-old appears to have gathered pace this weekend, with Arsenal said to made their opening bids for Aouar.

After a superb couple of seasons in Ligue 1, Aouar has become one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe. Indeed, Pep Guardiola is also known to be a fan, although a move to City is not said to be on the cards.

And Aubameyang, who has started the season in fine form for Arsenal, admitted he’d love to see Aouar at The Emirates. (Quotes via Metro)

“Of course I am in favour of signing him. He would add quality. Let’s see what happens. I cannot hide that, even if he is with Lyon.”

The comments from the Gunners star seem to suggest that there is definitely something in the rumours linking the Lyon midfielder with a move to England.

Along with Thomas Partey, Aouar has been a long-term target for Mikel Arteta this summer as he looks to strengthen his midfield ranks.

Aubameyang signed a new contract and was, probably, promised the club would do all it could to back Arteta in the market.

Signing Aouar would be a good signal of that intent, given his quality and reputation in the game.

A player like Aouar can only help Aubameyang get more goals as well thanks to his creative flair. This one looks like it’s edging closer and closer and will give Arsenal a massive boost in their pursuit of Champions League football.
