Following his £16m arrival from Bologna, Takehiro Tomiyasu only took part in his first training session with Arsenal on Thursday.
The 22-year-old was forced to wait for a work permit, although he’s now ready for action after his request was approved.
On Friday – just one day after his first session – it appears Tomiyasu is already getting along just fine with one of his new teammates.
Who has Tomiyasu bonded with at Arsenal?
The 24-cap Japan international has been spotted riding on the back of Nuno Tavares, as the pair joke around at London Colney.
Both Tavares and Tomiyasu have huge grins on their faces as the £8m signing from Benfica carries his new teammate around the training ground.
You can see the image below.

Hopefully, Tomiyasu doesn’t need to be carried by his teammates out on the pitch, and can stand on his own two feet despite arriving in a new division.
Will Tomiyasu play for Arsenal today?
In our view, we think the versatile defender will go straight in.
Admittedly, it’s unusual for a new signing to go straight into the starting XI having only trained for a matter of days.
However, Mikel Arteta has been struggling with his right-back options so far this season, and was forced to play Cedric against Manchester City last time out.

As a result, we think Arteta will throw Tomiyasu straight in against Norwich at 3pm today, especially after his glowing review of the defender.
As quoted by Football London, the Spaniard said: “Tomiyasu has the ability to play anywhere in a back four. He gives us different qualities in that right back position. He brings qualities that we didn’t have in the squad.”
Hopefully, Arsenal’s new No.18 can fire the Gunners to three points.
