Liverpool have finally found form, stretching their winning run to three games in all competitions.

Now, Liverpool are preparing to take on Premier League new-boys Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Steve Cooper’s charges are currently 19th in the table with one win, two draws and seven defeats.

Despite their struggles, Forest’s defence has looked stronger in the last few games.

Wolves only won via a penalty last weekend, and in midweek, the Reds held Brighton to a goalless draw.

However, Liverpool have scored first in their last two games and have held on for three points each time.

Both sides have cause for optimism ahead of Saturday’s early kickoff in the East Midlands.

Klopp has been putting his players through their paces at the AXA Training Centre ahead of the match.

And several youngsters, including Dominic Corness, featured in the latest training session.

Corness, born in Liverpool, joined the Reds academy setup aged five.

The 19-year-old has risen through the ranks at the club and earned promotion to the Under-23s last summer.

Corness, a midfielder who can also play at left-back, signed his first professional Liverpool contract in February 2021.

He has made 29 appearances for the U23s (now U21s) as well as 32 for the U18s and 11 at UEFA U19 level.

The Liverpool website describes Corness as a ‘cultured, left-footed midfielder’.

He ‘provides excellent deliveries from set pieces and is blessed with great vision’.

Liverpool also wrote about Corness in February 2021 as part of their Meet the Academy feature.

The article revealed that the player’s gifted left foot earned him the nickname ‘The Wand’ in the academy setup.

“This has been a nickname for years now,” he told the Liverpool website.

“All the coaches at the academy over time have just given me the nickname due to my passing and the things I do with my left foot really. It’s not bad at all.

“It’s just carried on over time and it’s still going now. I think it was around the age of 12 or 13 and it’s carried right through to the U18s.”

The article also lauded Corness’ ‘overall play and sublime execution from set-pieces’.
