Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been putting the Reds players through their paces ahead of their return to Champions League action.

The Anfield outfit cruised into the last 16 of the competition by winning all six of their Group B games.

Liverpool will now face Inter Milan in the knockouts, playing the first leg in Italy on Wednesday night.

The Reds will then contest the second leg at Anfield on Tuesday 8 March.

Liverpool’s media team shared a number of pictures from the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday ahead of the match.

And one of last season’s young heroes amid the Reds’ defensive crisis was also involved.

That player is Rhys Williams, now back at Liverpool following his loan spell at Swansea.

The 21-year-old made 19 appearances for Klopp’s side last season. This includes nine in the league and six in the Champions League.

Williams delivered a number of superb displays, prompting Klopp to call him “exceptional” and “incredible”.

This season, the youngster joined Swansea on loan, but he struggled for game time, prompting Liverpool to recall him in January.

Despite reported interest in Williams from other Championship clubs last month, the England Under-21 ace stayed put at Anfield.

Admittedly, Williams may struggle for game time at Liverpool right now, with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez ahead in the pecking order.

However, Klopp knows Williams has what it takes at the highest level, based on his Champions League displays last term, and can rely on him if needed.
