Antonio Conte gave his Tottenham Hotspur squad two days off after beating Marseille in the Champions League.

Spurs went from zeroes to heroes during a dramatic and nervy encounter in France on Tuesday night.

Conte had to watch the game from the stands after a red card on matchday five against Sporting.

And things didn’t go to plan initially, with Tottenham edging towards elimination after Marseille took the lead.

However, Spurs rallied round to equalise and, in injury time, found a winner to finish top of the group.

A well-deserved rest for the Tottenham players followed – but one player has still come in to train at Hotspur Way.

Ivan Perisic shared pictures on his Instagram stories – as relayed by The Spurs Web – of his conditioning sessions.

This is despite the Spurs players getting Wednesday and Thursday off.

Perisic has proven an incredibly shrewd signing for Tottenham.

Not only did he arrive on a free transfer, but his talent and experience have also proven valuable on and off the pitch.

Now, Perisic has shown that he’s going the extra mile to be as fit as possible for club and country.

Tottenham have three more games before the domestic season stops for the World Cup.

They’re huge fixtures too – Liverpool at home, Nottingham Forest away in the FA Cup, and Leeds United at home.

Perisic is in the provisional Croatia squad for Qatar 2022 and will fancy his chances of making the cut for the tournament.

So it makes sense for the £180,000-a-week star to be working on his conditioning, with a very busy period coming up.

Nonetheless, it’s still great to see a player working so hard even on his days off.
