Ben Davies was linked with a move to Leeds United this week in quite a left-field rumour.
The Whites have, of course, signed a number of Welsh players in recent times, while they’re no strangers to doing business with Tottenham either after bringing Joe Rodon and Djed Spence in over the summer.
So, what’s going on with Leeds and Davies?
Well, according to Phil Hay, speaking on The Square Ball Podcast, Leeds think there’s a slight chance they can get Davies, stating that Leeds are thinking that the £10m man could fall down the pecking order at Tottenham after the arrival of Radu Dragusin.

Leeds think there’s a small chance of getting Davies
Hay shared what he knows about the Tottenham defender.
“Davies, the thing they’re thinking with Davies is that because Spurs have been doing business defensively he would become peripheral and if he does, perhaps there will be an opportunity there. Davies seems to be quite a far-fetched idea that he will pitch up in the Championship for six months. He’s a very good player who has been heavily involved at Tottenham, that type of signing would be a long-shot, but it would be absolutely terrific,” Hay said.
Too important
As exciting as it would be for Leeds to sign Davies, we can’t see this one happening.
Davies, quite simply, is too important to Tottenham.
Not only is he a real leader in the squad, he’s also Spurs’ main cover at both left-back and left centre-back.
Yes, Dragusin has come in, but he’s in there to play on the right side instead of Cristian Romero rather than to act as Micky Van de Ven’s backup.
Perhaps if Spurs sign another defensive option, this one could have some life to it, but, as things stand, we’d be shocked if Davies actually ended up at Leeds.
