‘Phenomenal’, ‘Never stops running’: Some Rangers fans amazed by star’s display in 3-0 win
Rangers started the defence of their league crown with a convincing win on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were amazed by the performance of their star Calvin Bassey.
Steven Gerrard’s side have begun the Scottish Premiership season with a 3-0 victory against Livingston at Ibrox.
The Gers stormed to the league title last season, so all eyes are on them to see if they can repeat that. They didn’t reach top gear at the weekend, but did more than enough to get three points.
Ianis Hagi opened the scoring in the 8th minute due to a feint in the box to make room for a shot. Secondly, Scott Wright hit a stunning half-volley into the far corner that sat up perfectly for him. Finally, Kemar Roofe came off the bench to snatch a third to add gloss to the scoreline.
Calvin Bassey the talk of Rangers fanbase
A selection of Rangers supporters on social media believe their 21-year-old was one of the outstanding individuals on the pitch.
Bassey, who joined from Leicester City last summer, is an all-action defender that caught the eye against Livingston.
The powerhouse left-back is a physical presence that holds his own on the pitch and was a constant threat with overlapping runs today.
However, the area of his game to improve his clearly his end product. Also, he’s going to have a tough job keeping Borna Barisic out of the starting XI.
It’s extremely encouraging though for him to impress on opening day.
