A player recently linked with Neil Lennon’s Celtic and Steven Gerrard’s Rangers received huge praise by his manager this week following his call-up to the Scotland Under-21 squad.
In December, TEAMtalk reported that both Celtic and Rangers were keeping tabs on Dundee United forward Louis Appere, who has enjoyed a great season with the Tannadice side.
The 20-year-old was promoted to United’s seniors this term and has repaid the club’s faith with six goals and five assists in 33 appearances from up front and out wide.

Appere’s exploits have seen him earn a spot in Scot Gemmill’s squad for Scotland Under-21s’ Euro 2021 qualifiers against Croatia and Greece later this month.
“It’s phenomenal,” Robbie Neilson told the Evening Telegraph. “Louis has been brilliant. He really has been excellent for us this season.
“We sort of allotted for 10-12 games for him this season when he came back from his loan in the juniors, where he did well.
“But he’s surpassed all our expectations to make over 30 appearances, scoring and creating goals. I think he fully deserves it for his first season playing first-team football.”

Appere has enjoyed a sensational 12 months, becoming a first-team regular at Dundee United and getting recognition at international level.
The youngster, who according to TEAMtalk is valued at £2.5million, will now look to show his credentials for his country and build on the incredible success he’s achieved so far.
And Celtic and Rangers, who are always on the lookout for Scotland’s most talented prospects, will likely be keeping a close eye on proceedings.
